Making a show for broadcast on Harrogate Community Radio is a commitment - we will need you to supply what you say you can supply.
Please don't think we are hard task-masters; this is grown-up stuff. You will have the time of your life making these shows and making the mates you'll meet along the way. But, we need you to keep your side of the bargain...
Please have a look at the Open Call For Broadcasters and let me know what you think.

If you care about music and your community, we want to hear from you. Anyone aged 18 or over with a genuine connection to Harrogate and district can apply to make a programme. There is no charge.
Harrogate Community Radio is an online station made by the town and the people in it. You can listen on phones, computers, smart speakers and internet radios. If it connects to the internet, it can play us.
We are always looking for new voices, new shows and new ideas. The one condition is that you have a genuine link to Harrogate - or that you are part of the Harrogate diaspora. We ask this because it gives our listeners something they cannot get anywhere else: a station that is specifically about here.
Who we are
Harrogate Community Radio is built on a simple belief. A town can bring people together through music, conversation and shared culture.
Our shows highlight local music, gigs, events and stories. They are made by people who care about Harrogate and the scenes within it. Presenters lead the station, not algorithms or playlists. We broadcast online and keep things open, friendly and community-led.
Who we are looking for
We need broadcasters to help fill and grow the schedule. If you are:
- Obsessed with a genre, scene or era of music
- Keen to discover and share sounds you love
- Interested in interviews, discussion or spoken word
- Keen to be part of something local and independent
Then I would love to hear from you. Music shows and talk shows are both welcome.
Show format and commitment
To keep the schedule workable, shows need to be one of the following lengths:
- 30 minutes
- 1 hour
- 2 hours
Shows can run weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
You do not need professional radio experience. You do need a clear idea and the determination to follow it through. If your idea is right for the station, we will help you understand the recording process and get your show on air.
How the station works
Harrogate Community Radio is run by volunteers. Presenters, organisers and the management team all give their time because they believe in community radio. The station exists for the town, not for profit.
Next steps
The first step is simple. Bring your idea.
If you have a strong connection to music, want to tell local stories, or feel you have something worth sharing - and you have a link to Harrogate or the Harrogate diaspora - please complete the form below and tell me about your show.
