Sonos is a what-you-see-what-you-get Smart Speaker. It works in tandem with Alexa and Google Assistant (if you want it to) or, as we do at Backhouse HQ, it can be used just from the Sonos App. In this explanation I will try and tell you how to play Harrogate Community Radio through the SONOS app.
I gave my wife a Sonos for her Birthday a few years ago – it is still going strong. Within the Sonos app, you will need the add-on plugin ‘Radio.Net’ to stream the station. Here is how to install it; on iOS or Android, within the Sonos App you will need to go to the Settings pane…
- Open the Sonos app.
- From the Settings tab, tap Services.
- Under Music & Content, tap Add a Service.
- Tap the service you would like to add – in this case it is myTuner Radio.
- Tap Add to Sonos.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to add the music service account.
- Search for “Harrogate Community Radio” in the search Bar for SONOS and head to ‘Stations’.
- Play radio by the community for the community.
You will now be able to search for the station Harrogate Community Radio from within the Sonos App and from within the myTuner Radio plugin within the Sonos App. You do not need to create an account with myTuner Radio – it just does it automatically.

You can navigate this option in a couple of ways – but, most of the past broadcasts are up there for you to listen to again, digitally.
Method #1: Listen Again Page
If you head to our Listen Again page, on our site, you will be able to stream the most recent shows once again.
This is just in case you missed their original broadcast or a recent show really, really peaked your curiosity.
However, we realise this is not the most practical method – so there is another way…
Method #2: Per Show
If you navigate to a show’s page you should see the option to visit the individual episode’s page at the bottom of the page, after the text.
This is true of most shows – click on the individual episode and there will be an embedded player. It’s good.
Method #3: Ol’ Fashioned Search
There is a Search Function within the website that enables people to search out their favourite episode. We currently have around 1000 shows up on our site, so it is a lot to scroll through.
If you need to get specific then this is probably the best option.
If we have missed a show off from the listen again then please let us know – we are just volunteering humans at the end of the day and mistakes do happen. Raise a ticket by clicking to get to the Feedback Page, in the top-right of your menu and one of the Admin will get back to you.
