We have had a couple of well received events held at Major Tom’s for Halloween. This is Andrew writing this – I admit I am unsure if it was HCR’s own DJ Scooby or MT’s who instigated the events, but damn they were good fun! And, we are very grateful for Major Tom’s letting us work with them on this.
Hat tipped to DJ Scooby and the management of Major Tom’s – without their coordinated input there would have been negative funs. But… there was multiple funs.
The first event was a movie night held at Tom’s. The public got to choose the movie by voting on the HCR website.
There were two screenings, a tamer screening and a scary screening. Beetlejuice won the tamer screening, I coped with that. The Thing won the scary screening afterwards, all chosen by the public, and I had to power drink through it, with my back turned to the screen.
Then there was DJ Scooby’s Rock Night.
The Rock Night is an established event – it has previously been held in Oatlands WMC. It splits donations between HCR and MSF. Have you heard of MSF?
MSF (Doctors without Borders / Medicines sans frontiere) is a charitable body who deliver medical aid where it is needed most. This often involves war zones, famines and natural disasters. We dig that.
What is the format of the night? Well, it is an open decks night for anyone who wants to play rock or metal vinyl. Names are taken in advance and times given. It is a good laugh. One I hope you can enjoy with us next time?
