David Sibbald’s 40s Music Show February 21st 2021
David Sibbald February 21, 2021
You can catch David on Harrogate Community Radio on Sunday afternoons with his look at all kinds of music form the 1940s. And it won’t just be Glenn Miller or Vera Lynn. He has a wide range of 40s music and will remind you of songs you’re bound to remember, but will also play tracks from Margaret Whiting, Bob Crosby, (ok, Bing too!), Geraldo, Anne Shelton and Carmen Miranda. And with about 20 tracks per show, he’ll surely have you singing along!
And if you’ve a request for him to play – give him a few days’ notice and he’ll see what he can do. You can email David HERE.
A Scot from Edinburgh, David embarked on his radio career at Radio Clyde in the Newsroom. But the attraction of teaching Spanish, Russian, Portuguese and French was too strong to resist and he went on to be a Senior Teacher and a Junior School Head. Now retired, he still finds time for private tutoring.
From 1990, David had his own restaurant in Harrogate, while teaching part-time. He presented regular radio programmes in North Yorkshire and then he found himself doing a daily breakfast show on a community radio station near Harrogate. As well as a love for chart music from the 1950s to the present day, David has a real passion for the music of the 1940s.
David has acquired yet another passion – cruising and he gives talks on aspects of British entertainment there.
