Do you remember mix-tapes? I used to make loads of them and had my own way of putting them together. I had a track that, to me, was a good starter. It might be a slow burn intro, or a wham-bam, straight in sort of tune but then I just went with the flow. I’d find a track that felt right following on from the previous one. It led to some very eclectic mixes.
These days my music tastes are a lot wider than in those days, so you now might get some old big band stuff (Frank, Ella etc.), almost definitely 60’s Motown/Soul/Stax, plenty of 70’s disco/rock/glam, 80’s new romantics, 90’s dance/old school, right up to Ariana Grande/Billie Eilish. I’m currently bonkers about Charlie Puth’s track “Girlfriend”.
