Broadcasting at 5pm on a Friday is an award winning Blues Show. The Blues Show has been broadcasting since 2015 and the producer & host, Gary Grainger, was voted independent Blues Broadcaster of The Year in the British Blues Awards, September 2012. Gary is nominated in the same awards in 2013. Gary is also a seasoned performer currently bringing his mix of acoustic blues & Americana to venues and festivals across the UK.
The Blues Show first appeared on Bishop FM and has been a mainstay of the station since. Featuring Blues tracks old and new, Gary’s award was voted on by members of the public, and was won last year by Paul Jones from BBC Radio 2. “I simply play the music I like – and it seems that other people like it too,” says Gary. The award was presented at the Newark Blues Festival in September.
Gary’s Blues Show is broadcast every Friday from 9pm, repeated ad hoc throughout the week, and regularly features live studio sessions from some of the region’s best blues musicians, as well as interviews with blues stars from around the world.
All the blues that fits! Acoustic, electric, old, new, American, English, Scottish, Norwegian – it is all here – there are no Blues Police on this show!
Featuring Albums of the Week, studio and live recordings of local bands, local and international interviews too. Recent competition prizes include CDs, DVDs and concert tickets too.
Until the Coronavirus Pandemic, Gary was a gigging musician – feel free to chip in for the price of a coffee if you have derived worth from Gary’s show. You can do that by clicking on the button below.
