🎙️ New Episodes! New Shows! New Fun!
Written by Admin on April 16, 2021
This is another typed transcript of an email from Harrogate Community Radio – keeping you up to date with developments in your community radio station. I hope to tell you a bit about some of the excellent shows we have going out over the weekend – hear me out and tune in; there is no other radio station with this breadth of sounds.
On a side note, tonight at nine Guerrilla Dub System are back with Roots Conversation. They are joined on the show every week by perma-guest DJ Scooby. It is a roots reggae radio show that is all heart – some heavy cuts are aired tonight. Join them at 9pm on Harrogate Community Radio.
I hope to tell you a few shows coming up in the next few days, I have missed loads off – but, I don’t want to take up too much of your time.
Saturday sees the C60 Mixtape with Graham Mather and then another excellent episode of The Indie Show with Jess Bailey. If you are a fan of Alternative 80s music – don’t miss Altern80s with Mrs Moons at midday – this week it is a Raaawwwk! show. 2pm on Saturday sees the excellent Our Gate, in collaboration with Harrogate Theatre. Jack Sinclair is your host on that…
Saturday night is for Dancing and we have Four On The Floor with Craig J and it is the first anniversary of Rotation Radio – your host, Bespoke puts everything in to these shows; he is making waves in the local House scene and has a string of residencies under his belt, all at respectable venues. One to watch out for and one to dance to.
After Twisted Discotheque is In The Jungle – a Drum and Bass show that has recently popped up; really, really good. Really, really frantic. Find out more HERE.
On Sunday we invite you to dig in to a slice of Curiosity Cake – a spoken word show that recognises the amazing things that people do. Then at 2pm you are invited on an Audio Walk with Tom Marsh as he records a jaunt around Eavestone Reservoir. This show is in collaboration with Open Country, the accessibility charity opening up the countryside to folk who would not necessarily be able to reach the wilds of Yorkshire. You can find out more about Open Country HERE.
Then at 3pm is the professional David Sibbald – he brings his 1940s show to the air. The standard of music is fantastic (both the singing and the musicianship). They certainly did not tolerate rubbish back then!
The admin end the day – DJ Scooby is back with Sound Of Wonder, the world music show. There is not really Peruvian nose flutes and a patronisation of other countries music that you associate with most world music shows – if you want to hear the latest Ghanian hip-hop, Mongolian Metal or Moroccan Rave then this is the show for you.
I end the day of original broadcast with The Parish News – a toe-dip in to the world of experimental, avant-garde. It is a lot of fun to make and if you are thinking of having a show, I really recommend the hobby….
This newsletter has dragged on a bit, but I am as still as enthusiastic about the broadcast as ever before; I hope you get something from it too? It is such good radio!
Ps – did you know we have written a rough outline of all of the ways you can tune in HERE.
